Inurba Mobility (KaupunkiPyörä Vantaa Oy), together with Bauer Media Outdoor Finland, has won the tender for the city bike system in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. Inurba Mobility will continue to operate the system and Bauer Media Outdoor will provide advertising and sponsorship funding. The new system is expected to be launched for the next city bike season in 2026 at the earliest.

The new urban cycling system will be uniform for all participating municipalities in the metropolitan area. Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen, Kerava, Sipoo and Siuntio have expressed interest in joining the system. The system may also include electric bicycles.

Bauer Media Outdoor will also offer the possibility to commercialise a city bike system covering the metropolitan area in the future. A high quality city bike service that builds a strong image will provide the sponsor with excellent visibility at the heart of sustainable mobility. The sponsorship includes branding of the bikes and bike stations, maintenance and transfer vehicles, and visibility on the service's website and app.

The tender for the city bike system has been appealed to the Market Court, which may affect the progress and timing of the procurement. The appeal is not directed at Bauer Media Outdoor or Inurba Mobility, but as always, it is addressed to the contracting entities, i.e. the cities.
